In this 8-week seminar, you will:

• Work with the Thalea Quartet as a group and on your individual instrument

• Learn Two New Pieces! Dive into Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet op. 20 no. 4, along with Five Folksongs in Counterpoint by American black, female composer Florence Price

• Use the newest technology to play and practice alongside the Thalea as you learn to play and record your part

• Develop and discuss advanced chamber music skills such as score reading, part preparation, rehearsal techniques, and communication

• Tuition $225 - limited scholarships available

We are so excited to bring together an online seminar with the Thalea Quartet for intermediate and advanced students. Working with a professional string quartet is so much fun!

The Thalea Quartet is emerging as one of the premier young professional string quartets in the United States. They recently finished their 2 year program at UT working with the Miró Quartet. This seminar will dive into 2 pieces in the string quartet repertoire. Each week participating students will learn chamber music skills: how to efficiently prepare and learn a new piece, learn and put into practice score study and advanced listening, and will record themselves playing two wonderful pieces in the canon (alongside the Thalea Quartet, virtually).
